Ed Rowe

Ed Rowe was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri.   After one year at Dartmouth College, he transferred to West Point, graduating in 1962.   He served 30 years as an Army officer, with 2 combat tours in Vietnam, 1 tour in Germany and multiple tours in the Pentagon on the Army Staff, the Joint Staff, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense Staff.   His specialties were armor, infantry, strategy, intelligence, contingency operations, and crisis management.   He received a Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Maryland in 1972 and graduated from the National War College in 1984.   His awards include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, Ranger Tab, Parachute Badge, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.   Upon retirement from the Army as a Colonel in 1992, he accepted a civilian position in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations and Low Intensity Conflict.   His specialties in this capacity included special operations forces, combating terrorism, national security policy, crisis management, and interagency coordination.   He retired from the government in September of 2005.   In 2206 - 2007 , he taught courses as an adjunct at Miles College in Birmingham, AL, (Undergraduate: International Relations and Comparative Politics) and Rochester Institute of Technology/Center for Advanced Defense Studies in Washington, DC (Masters Program: Terrorism Financing).   He presently is working part time with the Project for National Security Reform, Center for the Study of the Presidency, in Washington, DC.
